A few years ago I heard that my brother and cousin were planning on driving to Mongolia with three other people I didn’t really know. As the months went by I saw all the profile raising they were doing via various forms of social media, local and national press and I thought “Wow they are actually serious about this,” whilst becoming increasingly jealous of their impending adventures. When one of the team members dropped out I wondered what they were going to do about getting a fifth person. I didn’t think that fifth person would be me, but here I am all photographed up and on the website taking on the opportunity of a lifetime.
A little bit about myself… I’m 25, went to university straight from school, studied ‘hard’ for three years, and upon graduating, landed smack bang in the middle of Domino’s instore pizza team… Hooooo-raaayyyy, money well spent! After a few years getting fat on delicious pizza, I managed to get a great job at a law firm in Liverpool city center, and I now spend my days working in the marketing team. Despite my talents making pizza and being sarcastic, I’ve not been assigned any specific responsiblities like the others, however I will be driving for hours and hours, and miles and miles, which is a responsibility I take very seriously.
Aside from the fact that this is a great opportunity to get my never-had ‘gap year travelling experience’ crammed into three weeks, I’ve always wanted to do something incredible for charity. I was 15 when my auntie died of breast cancer just when I was getting to know her properly. I’ve got loads of great memories of the times I spent with her, but the thing that gets me most of all, are the times we could’ve had since she passed. Doing this for Breakthrough Breast Cancer means that we’ll be helping all the people and their families who are affected by breast cancer, battle such a terrible illness. This has made the difficult decision to jump onboard a lot easier, and I now can’t wait to get going!
