Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust delivers social care and health services for people with severe and enduring mental health problems.
The Trust provide services to the 500,000 people who make up the population of Manchester, both in the community and in hospitals around the city.
MMHSCT employ around 1600 staff, and their three main locations are the Rawnsley and Edale buildings at Central Manchester University Hospital, Park House at North Manchester General Hospital and Laureate House at Wythenshawe Hospital.
With the help of their members they aim to make Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust a byword for excellence, providing high quality care with dignity and respect.
Part of this work also involves raising awareness and understanding of mental illness and to this end MMHSCT are partners and strong supporters of the national Time to Change campaign which is aimed at eliminating the stigma that is sometimes attached to mental health issues.

Foundation Trust – Looking To The Future
Foundation Trusts were brought into being by the Government in 2004 and now provide more than 90 per cent of all NHS acute hospital and mental health services in the North West. They are a way of making sure that more decisions are made at a local level. Foundation Trust status will mean that MMHSCT still offer all the benefits of being part of the NHS, such as free care at the point of contact, but with more freedom to make the right decisions for service users, carers and staff. You can read more about MMHSCT’s foundation status application here.
