Mongolia Five – The Mongol Rally 2011

sponsors renaultpage1 Renault ManchesterSince we got Sheila – our beautiful Renault Master – back in February, we’ve been in love with her.  As well as being spacious, economical and good looking she’s been 100 percent reliable.  We’ve had her left out in all sorts of weather for weeks at a time and she starts first time, every time.  Which is why we were a little baffled at a recent problem whereby she was cutting out a lot in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear.  Not a fatal problem, as she always started again straight away, but it would have made things a bit difficult on long motorway stretches.

Then, we met Renault Manchester.

We took Sheila in to have her problem looked at, and were met by Ken and the team down there who kindly agreed to take her in and check her over for us.  The result was that our old girl needed £1400 of work doing to her.  This was definitely a potential finisher as regards our rally, but without our even asking, Renault offered to do all the work for free and chucked in a load of spares, oils, tyre welds and other bits of kit on top.  They’ve even replaced our stereo!

We absolutely cannot thank Renault enough for all they’ve done for us.  Not only are they the company that built our baby, but the Manchester dealership, operated by Renault Retail,  have responded to our questions and anxiety about her with unending genorosity, interest and help.  They’ve been amazing.

If you’re looking for a new or used car, then we seriously recommend them (Nick and his wife are going down there after the rally to look at the Mégane III or the Laguna III!) for quality service and genuinely great deals.

Whichever charity ends up getting Sheila in Mongolia are lucky people to be getting such a great machine,  and a large part of that is down to Renault Manchester.
